National big-box furnishings store At Home is ready to make itself at home in Lake Forest, with plans to open its first California location in Foothill Ranch Towne Centre.
The Plano, Texas-based retailer plans to open an 84,600-square-foot store by combining spaces previously occupied by Sports Chalet and the closing Maiselle Fine Furniture. At Home now has more than 136 stores in 33 states.
At Home boasts that each of its stores each carry more than 50,000 unique items, including furniture, garden, home textiles, housewares, patio, rugs, seasonal decor, tabletop decor and wall decor. The chain is publicly traded.
The Planning Commission on Thursday will consider the proposed exterior remodel and other details. The proposed architecture includes a new entry tower, an aluminum awning over the entry doors and two gabled metal seam roofs, which will provide a unique character to the building. The Foothill Ranch Business Association approved the project on August 2. The City’s Economic Development Department worked with the Association and retailer to help secure approval of the project.
